Warm-up:
Students think of different types of weddings. They also read a few sentences and explain the meaning of the phrases in bold.
Video:
Students watch a video titled “What Wedding Traditions Look Like Around The World.” After watching the video, they match sentence beginnings with correct endings based on the video.
Reading:
Students read a short text and answer questions about it.
Exercises:
The students practice the correct pronunciation of wedding-related words. Next, the learners match idioms with their meanings. In the third exercise, they create phrases with nouns, adjectives and verbs. Next, the students match phrases with their definitions. In the fifth exercise, the learners complete gaps in dialogues with provided phrases. In the following exercise, they talk about weddings in their country using the given prompts. In the seventh exercise, the students complete sentences with one word each. In the eighth exercise, they categorize different types of weddings on a chart. Finally, the learners explain how they would plan different types of weddings.
Discussion:
The students discuss a number of topics using provided phrases. Next, the learners role-play a wedding abroad scenario with their teacher. In the third part of this section of the lesson, they read four opinions and choose two they agree with and two they disagree with. Finally, the students read a famous quote and discuss it.
