Gamification: Learning Through Play

In this upper-intermediate ESL lesson students practice vocabulary to talk about games, motivation, and progress.

Warm-Up

Students answer a few questions on the topic of the lesson.

Exercises

Students start by completing the sentences with words related to gamification. In the next two exercises, they match words with their synonyms and antonyms. Following that, they complete two word families. In the last exercise, the students fill in gaps in sentences with the correct adverbials.

Reading

Students will read a short text about gamification and answer questions about the text.

Discussion

At the end of the lesson, students read about a few situations and say what they would do, using one of the common phrases in the box.
