The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

• – watch a video about the hidden battle for fiber-optic supremacy and engage in discussions about global technology competition and security concerns.

Warm-up
We’ll kick things off with an engaging game where students will guess words connected to technology from the clues provided.

Video
We’ll watch a video called “The Hidden Battle for Fiber-Optic Supremacy.” After the video, the students will be asked to fill in gaps in sentences.

Exercises
Here the students will have fun by finding technology-related words in a word table. They will also be tasked with matching synonyms to the words in the text. In another exercise, they will fill in gaps in sentences from the provided list of words. Finally, the students will look for mistakes in sentences.

Reading
The students will read a short security memo and discuss whether they agree with the author.

Discussion
To finish up, there will be a discussion based on a word cloud related to global data transmission.
