Lesson overview

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are:

  • – to practice vocabulary related to street art,
  • – to increase the confidence with which students talk about art and social issues,
  • – to practice speaking at a C1 level.

 

 

This advanced lesson plan focuses on street art through speaking activities that develop advanced discussion skills and argumentation.

 

Warm-up:

The lesson starts with students choosing a statement and responding to it using one of the provided phrases 

 

Video:

Students watch a video titled “The secrets of Banksy” and answer the questions that follow. This part of the lesson probes students’ listening skills and reinforces their ability to form and articulate conclusions.

 

Speaking:

This section opens with an exercise in which the learners discuss the pros and cons of cities allowing street art.

In the following exercise, students suggest solutions to challenges using a list of provided collocations.

Next, the learners define bolded terms in a set of sentences.

Finally, they define sayings and give examples of when they might be used.

 

Discussion:

Students discuss a number of questions with their teacher.
