Warm-up:
In the introductory part of the lesson, the students circle synonyms for the phrase emotional intelligence.
Exercises:
In the first exercise, the students choose the correct alternative to words used in sentences. In the following exercise, the learners match each described situation to the lesson that can be learned from it. Later they answer a set of questions related to the topic of the lesson. In the next exercise, the students find a word that collocates with a series of provided words. Next, they match words to create expressions. In the following exercise, the learners complete sentences with words from a box. Students evaluate a series of statements as true or false. After that they categorize words as nouns or verbs. In the final two exercises, the learners give examples of specific situations and finish sentences in their own words.
Video:
The students watch the video “What is Emotional Intelligence?” and choose the correct set of words that were used to talk about the benefits of emotional intelligence. The students watch the video again and complete the sentences with the missing words.
Discussion:
Students look at a number of situations and help navigate them using emotional intelligence.
