In this Upper-Intermediate lesson plan, the student will learn about the differences between who, whom, whose, and who’s.
Warm-up
In the warm-up activity, the student completes the sentences with the correct form of the pronoun who.
Video: Who, whom, or whose
The student watches a BBC-produced video explaining the difference between who, whom, and whose. The student completes the rules after watching the first part of the video and tries to explain the meaning of another form of the pronoun who – who’s. They practice using these word forms by completing questions.
They watch the second part of the video and answer the questions about defining and non-defining relative sentences. They highlight relative clauses in different sentences and mark them as defining or non-defining.
Finally, they do a quiz to test their knowledge of the pronouns.
