The Return of Nuclear Power

In this B2 ESL lesson, students build topic vocabulary about energy, reading for detail, and discuss the pros and cons of nuclear power.

Warm-up:

Students become acquainted with key vocabulary.

Video:

Students watch a video titled “Why Nuclear Energy is Suddenly Making a Comeback.” After watching the video, they answer a few questions.

Exercises:

The students match words with their definitions. After that, they sort phrases into the correct categories. In the last section, the learners complete the sentences with the given words.

Reading:

Learners read a short text and then answer a few questions.

Discussion:

The students discuss whether they agree or disagree with a number of statements. In the second part of this section, they finish sentences with their own words.
