History of hats

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

• – Examine English vocabulary related to hats while exploring their history, significance, and various purposes.
• – Practice and apply English language skills through activities like “fill in the blank”, guessing games, and reading comprehension. 
• – Utilize a video called, “Evolution of Hats” to engage in English conversation and reading comprehension practice.

Warm-up

Students will start with a “Fill in the blank” vocabulary activity about hats to check their prior knowledge.

Video

Students will watch a video called “Evolution of Hats” Afterward during the “we do” part of the lesson, students will practice comprehension through targeted questions.

Exercises

Students will practice  and apply the content through an activity that includes matching vocabulary terms with their descriptions.

Reading

Students will read a brief passage about different hat styles and purposes throughout history. Students will complete comprehension questions during this “you do” part of the English lesson. 

Wrap Up

In the final  activity, the student and teacher will use provided prompts to discuss hats and how they might choose one for themselves.
