The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:
- – expand students’ vocabulary on the topic of feedback,
- – practice reading comprehension,
- – practice listening and discussion skills at B1 level.
In this Intermediate-level ESL lesson plan, students expand their vocabulary about giving and receiving feedback while practicing sentence formation and reading comprehension.
Warm-up:
The class kicks off with a light, hands-on activity where students are given a set of words and tasked with arranging them into complete, correct sentences. This warm-up helps activate their prior knowledge and gets them thinking in English right from the start.
Video:
Next, students will watch a short educational video called “The Joy of Getting Feedback.” After watching, they’ll complete a gap-fill exercise where they insert the missing words into sentences. This checks their understanding of the video and helps reinforce the new vocabulary they’ve just been introduced to.
Exercises:
Following the video, students move on to a matching exercise. Here, they’ll take key words (highlighted in bold) and match them to their correct definitions.
Reading:
After the exercises, students will read a short, informative text about feedback. After reading, there will be a question-and-answer session where students discuss the main ideas, giving them a chance to practice comprehension and conversation skills.
Discussion:
To wrap things up, students will be presented with a famous quote related to feedback.
