Fashion tips

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

• – master advanced vocabulary related to fashion and style while exploring fashion sustainability and iconic style development;
• – practice speaking fluency through fashion-related discussions, role-play exercises as personal stylist and client, and collocation activities;
• – watch a video about a 75-year-old fashion icon and analyze different fashion decades through image analysis and gap-fill exercises.

In this C1 ESL lesson plan, students will master advanced vocabulary related to fashion and style and enhance speaking fluency through fashion-related discussions.

Warm-up: 

Students will match words to create fashion collocations.

Video: 

Students watch a video “She’s 75, but dresses like a Fashion Icon.” and complete a gap-fill exercise based on the content.

Exercises: 

Students will be tasked with filling gaps in sentences from a list of given words. In the second exercise they will take turns with their teacher being a personal stylist and client. Finally, they will analyze images of different fashion decades.

Reading: 

Students analyze a text about fashion sustainability and answer in-depth questions.

Discussion: 

Students discuss their personal experience with fashion.
