Lesson overview

This Intermediate ESL lesson focuses on expanding vocabulary related to AI and the job market. It also covers the grammar topic of intensifiers “so,” “such,” “such a,” “so much,” and “so many.”



We’ll start with an activity where students discuss emotions evoked by a robotaxi.



A viewing of “Jobs vs. Machines: The Rise of Artificial Intelligence” will serve as a conversation starter. Post-viewing, we’ll explore the video’s key takeaways through a series of questions.



This part of the lesson will introduce the topic of intensifiers “so,” “such,” “such a,” “so much,” and “so many.” Examples will be provided for more context.



Students will have the chance to practice their new knowledge through interactive tasks, such as filling in gaps in the text with the most appropriate word.


Pick a Card

The students will pick a card and discuss the challenge described on the card using “so,” “such,” “such a,” “so much,” and “so many” as much as possible.



A reading exercise involves a short text about the impact of AI on the job market and answering a series of questions to check for reading comprehension.



The lesson concludes with an exercise where students discuss a few AI job market statistics with their teacher.
