Economic bubbles

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

• – Expand English vocabulary understanding related to economic bubbles and financial crisis.

• – Utilize the video “What Causes Economic Bubbles?” to explore and engage in discussions about the stock market.

Warm-up
Students will guess words or phrases, from clues provided, about the lesson topic.

Video
Students watch a video called “What Causes Economic Bubbles?” to practice financial-crisis vocabulary.

Exercises
In this “you do” part of the lesson, students will complete various skill application activities to further develop and demonstrate their understanding of vocabulary related to the stock market, financial crisis, and economic bubbles. 

Reading
The students will read a passage about a bad day from the perspective of a stock market trader. To practice reading comprehension and discussion skills in English, the student will discuss how the trader must have felt.

Wrap Up
In the final activity to demonstrate understanding and mastery of the objectives, students will participate in a discussion based on the “Financial Crisis” word cloud.
