Affect vs. effect

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

• – Master the difference between “affect” and “effect” by learning clear explanations and memory tricks through video instruction in this intermediate ESL lesson.
• – Build vocabulary and comprehension skills by watching educational videos with practical examples and exploring these commonly confused words.
• – Improve grammar accuracy through multiple practice opportunities and exercises that reinforce correct usage of “affect” and “effect.”

In this Intermediate lesson plan, students will learn to correctly use the words ‘affect’ and ‘effect.’ They will watch a video and read about the correct use of the words.  They will then go over some exercises so they can practice.

Warm-up

The lesson starts with a discussion about ‘affect’ and ‘effect.’

The meanings of affect and effect are explained and a great trick for memorizing the difference between the two is introduced. Next, the student practices correctly using the words.
