What is love?

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

• – expand vocabulary related to feelings and love through definition matching exercises and gap-filling activities to form meaningful messages;
• – improve comprehension skills by watching a video about true love and reading a text on the same topic, followed by targeted questions about both materials;
• – develop emotional intelligence and speaking abilities through picture analysis to express feelings, opinion sharing about love concepts, and discussions about personal perspectives on relationships.

In this C2 lesson plan, students will practice vocabulary related to feelings and love in particular.

Warm-up 

The lesson begins with students sharing what feelings a picture evokes in them.

Video 

Students will view a video titled “What True Love Really Is.” After watching the video, they will answer questions to check for comprehension.

Exercises 

Students will learn new vocabulary by matching terms with their definitions.

Reading 

In this part, the students will read a short text about love. After that, they will answer questions about the text.

Discussion 

The lesson concludes with filling blanks with missing verbs to form a message about love. The students are asked to share their opinion about the message.
