The rich don’t pay taxes

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

Warm-up 

The lesson begins with students reading the definition and statistics on the taxing of the rich.

Video 

Students will view a video titled “How the rich avoid paying taxes.” After watching the video, they will answer questions to check for comprehension.

Exercises 

Students will learn new vocabulary by matching terms with their definitions.

In the second exercise, students will choose words that best fit sentences about tax avoidance.

Reading 

In this part, the students will read a short text about tax evasion. After that, they will answer questions about the text.

Discussion 

The lesson concludes with students filling in blanks with missing verbs to form a text about tax avoidance. The students are then asked to share their opinions about the text.
