Lesson overview

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

Warm-up 

Students will participate in a reading activity about statistics on “the taxing of the rich”.

 

Video 

Students will watch the video titled “How the Rich Avoid Paying Taxes.” After watching the video, students will answer questions to practice and apply comprehension in English.

 

Exercises 

In this “you do” part of the lesson, Students will demonstrate understanding of vocabulary and practice new skills through matching terms with their definitions, and a “fill in the blank” activity.

 

Reading 

Students will complete a reading passage about tax evasion, and then further apply comprehension skills through “you do” by answering questions about the passage. 

 

Wrap Up

In the final activity of the lesson, students will complete a “fill in the blank” activity about tax avoidance. The students will then further demonstrate their skills from this lesson by sharing their opinions about the text.
