The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

• – introduce students to essential New York City vocabulary and cultural knowledge through interactive exercises;
• – practice vocabulary building through collocations, gap-fill activities, role-play exercises, and reading comprehension skills;
• – watch a video about New York City vacation travel guide and engage in tour guide/visitor role-play scenarios.

Warm-up: 

Students will match words to create collocations.

Video: 

Students watch a video “New York City Vacation Travel Guide.” and complete a gap-fill exercise based on the content.

Exercises: 

Students will be tasked with filling gaps in sentences from a list of given words. In the second exercise, they will take turns with their teacher being a tour guide and a visitor. Finally, they will analyze images of New York.

Reading: 

Students analyze a text about New York and answer in-depth questions.

Discussion: 

Students engage in a discussion on the topic of the lesson.
