In this upper-intermediate ESL lesson, students develop vocabulary related to workplace meetings while discussing how to distinguish between necessary collaboration and meetings that could have been emails.
Warm-Up:
Students will look at a graphic and answer questions.
Video:
Students will watch a short video titled “Company Meeting Stereotypes.” After watching, students will answer questions to check for comprehension.
Exercises:
Students will engage in a series of language activities to reinforce their understanding of vocabulary and concepts. They will start by completing sentences using provided words in a gap-filling exercise. Next, they’ll practice word replacement, substituting words in sentences using a given list of alternatives. The third activity involves matching words with their antonyms to expand vocabulary. Lastly, students will adapt a short text by replacing highlighted words with options from a list.
Reading:
Students will read a short text about ineffective meetings and answer questions about the text.
Discussion:
By the end of the lesson, students will answer questions to spark a discussion.
