Space Force: The New Military Frontier

In this B1 ESL lesson plan, students will learn new vocabulary related to space and the military. They will also practice the passive voice.

Warm-up:

Students use the words provided to create sentences about the Space Force.

Video:

Students watch a video, “Space Force Is the Newest US Military Branch. But What Do They Actually Do?”, and complete a gap-fill exercise based on its content.

Grammar:

Students are introduced to the passive voice.

Exercises:

Students change sentences from active to passive. In the next exercise, they write the noun form of each verb. In the third exercise, they sort phrases into the correct categories. Finally, they guess which statements are true and which are false.

Reading:

Students analyze a text about the Space Force and answer in-depth questions.

Discussion:

Students discuss a famous quote.
