Shrinkflation

The main objectives of this ESL lesson plan are to:

Warm-up
The lesson starts with an exercise where students pick words related to inflation.

Video
Students will watch a video named “How we’re getting ripped off by hidden inflation.” After viewing, they choose which strategies were mentioned in the video.

Exercises
This section features two distinct ESL teaching activities: First, students develop analytical skills by determining which company statements are likely deceptive lies. Second, they complete a gap-fill exercise focusing on two-word phrases related to shrinkflation.

Reading
Students will read a short text about shrinkflation, followed by a Q&A session.

Discussion
To wrap up, the students will discuss a quote.
