The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:
- – Analyze business meeting vocabulary including terms like “grueling,” “whim,” and “cranky” while exploring solutions for meeting overload through video comprehension activities.
- – Practice modal verbs and their proper usage through grammar exercises and real business communication contexts in this advanced ESL lesson.
- – Examine future meeting technology by watching videos about VR meetings, reading articles about virtual business environments, and discussing whether these scenarios are realistic for workplace communication.
In this Advanced ESL lesson, students will practice vocabulary and ideas related to business meetings. They will watch two videos and read an article about using VR for meetings in the future. We also go over modal verbs and how to use them properly.

Video 1: 5 tips for dealing with meeting overload

They will watch the video, which discusses how current solutions don’t seem to work, and then discuss questions based on the video.
Video 2: When meetings are no longer online
After watching the video, students will discuss if this scenario is possible in the future and explain why/why not.
Reading: Business meetings in the future
