The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

• – expand vocabulary related to astronomy through definition matching exercises and reading about the solar system and space exploration concepts;
• – introduce and practice distancing expressions through example analysis and sentence rephrasing exercises to master this advanced grammar structure;
• – improve comprehension and discussion skills by watching a video about the solar system, reading a related article, and engaging in conversations about space exploration and famous quotes.

This lesson plan is designed for Upper Intermediate learners with the goal of expanding their vocabulary on astronomy and helping them become adept at using distancing expressions.

Warm-up

We’ll start with an engaging activity where students can express their views on space exploration.

Video

Following the warm-up, students will view a video titled “Solar System 101.” They will then answer questions focusing on the main ideas presented in the video.
