Lesson overview

In this Intermediate lesson plan, students will practice vocabulary related to combat sports and become more comfortable with using gerund and infinitive: do, to do, or doing.

 

Warm-up 

The students look at pictures and connect them with their descriptions.

 

Video 

Students will view a video titled “The Rules of Boxing – EXPLAINED!” After watching the video, they will answer questions to check for comprehension.

 

Grammar

This segment introduces gerund and infinitive: do, to do, or doing with examples to illustrate their use.

 

Exercises 

In this part of the lesson plan, the students will be asked to fill in the blanks in the sentences using words in brackets.

In the second exercise the students will discuss the importance of specific attributes for a boxer to have.

Finally the students will group adjectives into the correct categories.

 

Reading 

In this part, the students will read a short text about boxing and answer a set of questions related to the text.

 

Discussion 

The lesson concludes with students creating a famous boxing quote.
