Lesson overview

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

  • – Practice applying and identifying correct use of gerund and the infinitive forms: do, to do, or doing.
  • – To further develop English gerund/infinitive grammatical skills.
  • – Utilize a video called “The Rules of Boxing – EXPLAINED!” to practice and apply comprehension in English.

 

 

Warm-up 

The students will look at pictures and match the content with their descriptions.

 

Video 

Students will view a video titled “The Rules of Boxing – EXPLAINED!” After watching the video, they will answer questions to  practice comprehension skills in English.

 

Grammar

This part of the lesson introduces the English grammatical subject of gerunds and the infinitives: do, to do, or doing. 

 

Exercises 

In this “you do” portion of the lesson, students will be asked to apply what they have learned through activities like “fill in the blank”, and grouping words categorically. 

 

Reading 

Students will read a passage about boxing and answer questions to demonstrate and practice understanding in the English language.

 

Wrap Up Activity

In a final “we do” of the English lesson for students, students will examine and practice discussion skills with a boxing quote.
