Lesson overview

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

  • – Examine English vocabulary related to dance while exploring various elements of dance.
  • – Practice and apply English language skills through activities like vocabulary matching and reading comprehension
  • – Utilize a video called, “the benefits of dancing (even if you’re not good at it)” to engage in a conversation and reading comprehension practice.

 

 

Warm-up

Students will start with a vocabulary guessing activity about different dance styles to check their prior knowledge.

 

Video

Students will watch a video called “The benefits of dancing (even if you’re not good at it).” Afterward during the “we do” part of the lesson, students will practice comprehension through targeted questions.

 

Exercises

Students will practice  and apply the content through activities that include matching dance terms with their meanings, and using hints to identify or guess dance-related vocabulary.

 

Reading

Students will read a brief passage about dance’s purpose throughout history. Students will complete comprehension questions during this “you do” part of the lesson. 

 

Wrap Up

In the final  activity, the student and teacher will use provided prompts to discuss the purpose of dance.
