How does our planet change?

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

• – expand vocabulary related to global warming through discussion activities about thought-provoking pictures, reading about combating climate change, and engaging with environmental word clouds;
• – introduce and practice clauses of time introduced by “when” and “while” through example analysis and interactive exercises that include context-appropriate word selection;
• – improve comprehension and conversational skills by watching a video about how climate change works, identifying environmentally hostile actions, and engaging in discussions about environmental issues.

This Pre-Intermediate ESL lesson focuses on expanding vocabulary related to global warming. It also introduces clauses of time introduced by “when” and ”while.”

Warm-up

The lesson starts with students discussing their thoughts on a thought-provoking picture.

Video

Students will watch a video entitled “Climate Change: How does it really work?” A series of questions related to the video will follow aimed at improving conversational skills.

Grammar

This part of the lesson will concentrate on introducing clauses of time introduced by “when” and ”while.” The learning process will be reinforced by numerous examples.

Exercises

Students will have the chance to practice their new knowledge through interactive tasks, including picking the right word to fit the context and deciding which sentences depict hostile actions against the environment.

Reading
