Dodging the question

Lesson overview

In this B2 level lesson plan, students explore question-dodging techniques through varied exercises including matching definitions, rearranging scrambled words, identifying phrases in texts, comparing problematic avoidance strategies, and video comprehension.

Warm-up

Students read statements and decide which question-dodging technique they describe.

Video

Students watch an informative video titled “Taylor Swift Dodging Interview Questions Non-Stop.” After viewing, they pick which aspects were mentioned in the video.

Exercises

Language skills are reinforced through various activities. Students fill gaps in a conversation with the provided phrases. In the second exercise, they rearrange letters to create words. Lastly, they find phrases in a text that correspond to a list of given definitions.

Reading

Students read a text about why people dodge questions and answer questions about the text to test reading comprehension.

Discussion

For each pair of question-dodging techniques, students choose which one is more problematic in their opinion.
