
The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

- – to use more vocabulary related to the subject of conspiracy theories.
- – to develop their ability to argue and analyze, using a greater range of expression through discussion, reading comprehension and gap-fill exercises.
- – develop listening comprehension with a short video called “Why We Are All Attracted to Conspiracy Theories”. This is followed up with practice questions.
This advanced English language lesson will help students to develop a more advanced range of language and to refine their analytical and argumentative skills with a deep dive into the subject of conspiracy theories.
Warm-Up
In the warm-up, students begin with a ‘True or not?’ game to test themselves on whether a conspiracy theory is true . . . or not!
Video
Students watch a short educational video called “Why are we all attracted to conspiracy theories?” There are follow-up comprehension questions to check students’ understanding of the video.
Exercises
During the practice section, students do a gap-fill exercise to consolidate the vocabulary learned in the lesson.
Reading
In the reading comprehension stage, learners read a text about conspiracy theories. A follow-up exercise with questions allows students to check their comprehension of the text.
Discussion
In this final part of the lesson, students answer questions related to the topic of conspiracy theories using expressions and vocabulary acquired in the lesson.
