How Reliable Are Personality Tests?

Lesson overview

In this Upper-Intermediate ESL lesson, students will explore the reliability and limitations of personality tests through vocabulary exercises, reading comprehension, and critical thinking activities.

 

Warm-Up:

Students will reveal the hints to guess the final word.

 

Video:

Students will watch a short video titled “Why the Myers-Briggs test is totally meaningless.” After watching, students will answer questions to check for comprehension.

 

Exercises:

Students will match given words with their synonyms in the text. In the second exercise they will rephrase sentences using provided idioms.

 

Reading:

Students will read a short text about the limitations of personality tests and answer questions about the text.

 

Discussion:

By the end of the lesson, students will fill in the blanks with the correct verbs. They will discuss the revealed message with the teacher.
