How to be a good listener

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

• – practice advanced vocabulary related to communication;

• – improve comprehension skills through vocabulary matching and sentence completion exercises;

• – watch a video about “4 Things All Great Listeners Know” and answer comprehension questions.

In this C2 lesson plan, students will practice vocabulary related to communication.

Warm-up 

The lesson begins with students discussing a chart with the teacher.

Video 

Students will view a video titled “4 things all great listeners know.” After watching the video, they will answer questions to check for comprehension.

Exercises 

Students will learn new vocabulary by matching terms with their definitions. 

In the second exercise, students will be asked to choose which word completes the sentence correctly.

Reading 

In this part, students will read a short text about listening skills. After that, they will answer questions about the text.

Discussion 

The lesson concludes with a discussion around a famous quote.
