Adaptive surfing

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

• – Master reflexive and reciprocal pronouns through grammar exercises and differentiation practice in this upper intermediate ESL lesson plan.
• – Build surfing vocabulary by watching videos about adaptive surfing schools and completing reading comprehension exercises for adult English lessons.
• – Develop speaking and discussion skills through surfing-related conversations, video comprehension activities, and participating in conversation class lesson plans designed for these English teaching materials.

In this Upper Intermediate lesson plan, students will learn the correct way of using reflexive and reciprocal pronouns. They will watch a video about surfing and learn some surfing vocabulary, followed by grammar exercises.

Warm-up

The lesson starts off with some discussion questions about surfing, related to the photo attached.

Video: The Incredible School for Adaptive Surfers

Students will watch a video and get to learn about a school that offers swimming lessons for disabled people. The video will look at the different techniques used along with the positive impact that the school has on their surfing students.

Grammar

In this lesson, we’ll explore how to use and differentiate between reflexive and reciprocal pronouns. Students will do several grammar exercises and learn some surfing terminology along with doing reading comprehension exercises.
